for more information. Upon successful completion of course requirements, students are eligible for the National Registry EMT and the State of Montana EMT certifications.
The WEMT is offered for 3 University of Montana credits for an additional $155 fee paid directly to the University of Montana.
LOCATION: Missoula MT- UM campus in McGill hall room #135.
COST: $2,600- deposit of $1000 is due at the time of registration. You can use alternate sources of funding such as AmeriCorps or G.I. Bill and we do offer payment plans. Room and board are not provided or included in the course cost but are available nearby for purchase.
PREREQUISITES: This course can be intense and does require some preparation before the first day. Students must have no prior felony's and be 18 years of age or older; younger students may take the class with approval but must be 18 within two years of course completion to take the National Registry Exam. Must submit 2- negative TB tests, vaccination records (contact the Aerie office for a list), and a self query by Monday January 14th, 2019. If you can't meet this deadline please contact the Aerie office to make other arrangements.
TEXTBOOK: Students are required to purchase the EMT textbook used for this course. It can be new, used, PDF or rented and the accompanying workbook is up to you but is not required by Aerie Backcountry Medicine "Prehospital Emergency Care (11th Edition)- Joseph Mistovich
NOTE: We highly discourage students from using previous versions of this textbook as curriculum points are outdated.
SCHEDULE: This 12-week course will run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 5:15pm-9:30pm with four field-based weekends running from 8am-6pm.
Classes will not be held on March 26, 27, 28 (the University of Montana's Spring Break).
This course meets for 4 field-based weekends. Class will be all day on Saturday and Sunday for the following weekends:

Mar 2 - 3
Mar 16 -17
Apr 13 - 14 (overnight)
