Due to COVID-19, the State of Montana and/or the Missoula City-County Health Department may impose travel restrictions or quarantine procedures for those coming into the Missoula area. Wilderness EMT

Wilderness EMTs take
foundational EMT skills into austere locations, with hazardous environments and
limited resources. Wilderness EMTs are taught to adapt to these challenges with
numerous extensive, realistic scenarios and case studies. Upon successful
completion of course requirements, students are eligible for the National
Registry EMT and the State of Montana EMT certifications.
The WEMT is offered for
3 University of Montana credits for an additional $155 fee paid directly to the
University of Montana.
LOCATION: Jack Creek Preserve MT- with the last week
in Missoula for clinical and practical testing on the UM campus- exact building
and room TBA.
COST: $4,100- deposit of $1500 is due at the time of registration and room and board are provided for the duration of the program. You can use alternate sources of funding such as AmeriCorps or G.I. Bill® and we do offer payment plans. The $4,100 program cost covers: Tuition & fees, Books and Room & board.
PREREQUISITES: This course can be intense and does
require some preparation before the first day. Students must have no prior
felony's and be 18 years of age or older; younger students may take the class
with approval but must be 18 within two years of course completion to take the
National Registry Exam. Must submit 2- consecutive negative TB tests,
vaccination records should include Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria,
Tetanus, and Hepatitis B- at least the first shot before the start of the
course as well as a record of the flu shot. You will also need to fill out,
sign and submit a Dietary Restrictions form, even if you don't have any
restrictions, and Self Query background check by Monday April 5th, 2021. If you
can't meet this deadline please contact the Aerie office to make other
arrangements. You may turn it these documents through mail, fax or email. We
are unable to accept picture of medical records due to formatting issues (this
includes having a JPEG and exporting it as a PDF), it challenges its validity.
You will be asked to resubmit and this delay may cause you to miss the
submission deadline.
TEXTBOOK: Students are required to purchase the EMT
textbook used for this course. It can be new, used, PDF or rented and the
accompanying workbook is up to you but is not required by Aerie Backcountry

previous versions of this textbook as curriculum points are outdated.

However, due to the fluid and changing nature of the current pandemic, Aerie may elect to teach this course in an online format. The exact circumstances for this course will dictate whether that would be entirely online or just partially online. These changes may happen before or during a course, Aerie will notify students as soon as possible if the course format changes. Aerie will refund students who choose to drop out of a course before it begins.
