Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are the foundation of pre-hospital medical care in the United States. EMTs gain access to and assess patients, control bleeds, stabilize fracture, administer some medications, package patients and deliver them to higher levels of care. Aerie's EMT course prepare our students for this field with in-depth, interactive lectures and realistic, challenging scenarios. This course is offered for 5 University of Montana credits for an additional $155 fee paid directly to the university. 

SCHEDULE: Class will be held from 8am-6pm each weekday. Although class is not held over the weekend, students may be assigned clinical observation time at a local hospital. A weekend days or nights will be used to complete clinical time. These will be scheduled shortly before the course begins. 

COST: $1,750-tuition includes the practical EMT test fees and MOST course supplies. A deposit of $1,000 is due at the time of registration. 

Aerie accepts alternate sources of funding such as AmeriCorps, G.I. Bill® and we do offer payment plans.

LOCATION: Missoula, MT - Missoula College Room 449

TEXTBOOK: Students are required to obtain the EMT textbook used for this course. It can be new, used, PDF or rented and the accompanying workbook is up to you but it is not required by Aerie Backcountry Medicine. "Prehospital Emergency Care (11 Edition)"- Joseph Mistovich. ISBN-13: 978-0134704456 ISBN-10: 0134704452  NOTE: We highly discourage students from using previous versions of this textbook, as curriculum points are outdated. 

PREREQUISITES: This course can be intense and does require some preparation before the first day. Students must have no prior felonies and be 18 years of age or older; younger students may take the class with approval but must be 18 within two years of course completion to take the National Registry Exam. 

MUST SUBMIT: 2- consecutive negative TB tests. Vaccination records; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis B (at least the first shot before the course starts), Varicella (chickenpox) verification, a record of the flu shot and a Self Query background check (please contact the Aerie Office) by Monday, July 1st, 2021. If you can't meet this deadline please contact the Aerie office to make other arrangements. You may turn it these documents through mail, fax or email.

 We are unable to accept picture of medical records due to formatting issues (this includes having a JPEG and exporting it as a PDF), it challenges its validity. You will be asked to resubmit and this delay may cause you to miss the submission deadline.
